Mice Coffee
A Performance at DVAA “Territory Gothic” in June 2008
Phoenix Tails and Flies, 8 Aug - 29 Aug,
“Phoenix tails and flies”- with once-use chopsticks, its paper wrappers and plastic toy flies - features a mini “Chinese garden” inside DEAF space at DVAA. Using phoenix patterns and flies as metaphor for the contrast of beauty and ugliness, the artist shows an out-positioned Chinese culture that she found in this hush and rough land of Northern Territory.

No Dog Meat During the Olympic
“Beijing takes dog off the menu for Olympics” — this news title attracted my attention when I were browsing at Olympic site at abc website.(http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/07/11/2301795.htm?site=olympics/2008) It was a funny piece of news which said Chinese authorities won’t allow dog meat food on the menu in hotels and restaurants in Beijing during the Olympic.
What a thoughtful and considerable hospitality Chinese authorities announce to the world! Having constant condemnation of all sorts of rights in China, Chinese government is announcing to the foreigners “Come to China! Even you cannot accept real China, we can change it for you. China can be modified to “China” what you like, what you understand.”
I cannot help thinking a Confucius’s saying, “It is such a delight to have friends coming from afar.” Treating foreigners well and making them happy is always a mortal rule that Chinese follow. Banning dog food is an action of saving face, an action of treating gusts right or it perhaps is an action of developing Chinese economy.
No matter from what purpose, no matter if it is true that no one in Beijing has dog meat on their table, Chinese have been ready for all sorts of criticisms.

2nd life
I cann’t believe that so many people ( maybe just media) fall into 2ndLife fade! NewYork Time showed an video clip of CSI new episode in which Mac Taylor was created in 2ndLife. (http://www.nytimes.com/pages/arts/television/index.html)
This is ? how many times I have heard 2ndlife from media? I don’t really recall the number. but the phrase of 2ndlife has been haunting over my head since last year.
Every time when i heard people talking about 2ndlife as the world’s destiney, I wanted to shout out “Get your FirstLife!”
I really get confused by our societies. One side, people complain the stress urban life makes people cold and lost their basic ablities to communicate others. the other side, people are suggested to live in a computer-driven life by meida.
Erhh…..
“Long live for my 1stLife!”
